Raj Kundra’s Super Fight League: MNS men held for rioting and ransom bid

The Maharashtra Navnirman Sena activists allegedly caused a ruckus at Shilpa Shetty’s husband Raj Kundra’s event

The DN Nagar police arrested 10 Maharashtra Navnirman Sena (MNS) activists for allegedly rioting, molesting and demanding ransom from businessman Raj Kundra’s mixed martial arts promotion Super Fight League Indian Ltd at Filmalaya Studio on Saturday. Kundra is actor Shilpa Shetty‘s husband.

“We have arrested Ghanshyam Parab and his nine associates (all MNS activists) for allegedly rioting and demanding ransom,” said Rajendra Chavan, senior police inspector. The holiday court on Sunday remanded them in police custody till October 29, he added.

According to the police, the incident took place after 10pm on Saturday when Kundra’s company was hosing an event at Filmalaya Studio. The MNS activists barged in and pushed a female receptionist who tried to stop them. They also had a scuffle with the security guards. They demanded money from the producer of the event, Anil Chauhan. The activists then damaged Kundra’s car, besides two other cars and three motorbikes.

The police said that a few people sustained minor injuries in the incident. They have been admitted to Cooper Hospital for treatment.
