Rajinikanth sings in Hindi for ‘Kochadaiyaan’

Proving the legend that nothing is impossible for the Superstar, he sang in the national language for the first time in his entire career for his forthcoming film directed by his daughter Soundarya

After his surgery last year, Rajinikanth is back in action and is almost unstoppable. He has been all over the place, shooting, dubbing and recording for his daughter’s forthcoming film, Kochadaiyaan. The film, which is being shot with motion capture technology in 3D, has cinematographer Rajiv Menon at the helm whilst the background score and soundtrack is being composed by AR Rahman. Kochadaiyaan is set to release in Hindi, Tamil, Telugu, Japanese and English simultaneously. Rajini saar had sung in Tamil for the film but last Saturday the superstar crooned for the Hindi version on the insistence of the producers. This is a first for Rajinikanth.

Lyricist Irshad Kamil, who had collaborated with AR Rahman in Rockstar has penned the song which comprises some really difficult Urdu lyrics. We heard that initially Rajini was a little skeptical about pulling it off, but thanks to some encouragement by the Mozart of Madras and his personal quest of taking on challenges, he went ahead. After a rigorous 15-day schedule in London, the makers of Kochadaiyaan have a historic number under their belt.

Kochadaiyaan is very ambitious and one can even boldly hope that the film may almost be at par with James Cameron’s Avatar. The crew is mostly from Hollywood and it will be a spectacle for all Rajinikanth fans.
