Hrithik Roshan’s daddy celebrates his 63rd birthday today
Born on September 6, 1949, Rakesh Roshan, the director who introduced the Sci-fi genre in Bollywood with Koi Mil Gaya turns 63 today. Rakesh Roshan has had a tremendous innings in Bollywood. He didn’t see much success as an actor, but once he turned director and producer, there was no stopping him.
Son of Roshanlal Nagrath, a successful musician in the ‘40s, Rakesh debuted as an actor in the film Ghar Ghar Ki Kahani. He went on to act in more than 60 Hindi films and gave some memorable performances in Khatta Meetha and Khoobsurat. The actor then donned the director’s mantle with Khudgarz, and later also began to produce films. However his most memorable hits till date have been with his son Hrithik Rroshan.
Besides producing and directing his son’s mega-debut movie Kaho Na Pyaar Hai, he also helmed India’s first sci-fi flick in the form of Koi Mil Gaya with his son again. A well known quirk of the director is that he is superstitious about the letter ‘K’ and every single film that he has produced and directed starts its name with it!
Son Hrithik Roshan plans to make this year special for daddy by making a documentary that has all his dad’s old co-stars talking about their journey with him. Although it will be a super busy 64th year for the veteran director as he sinks into the new installment of the Krrish franchise with son Hrithik. Well, we wish him good health, lots more success and a whole lot of luck!
