Sanjay Leela Bhansali and team Goliyon ki Raasleela Ram-Leela can finally celebrate!
Ram-Leela (as it was called earlier) garners a whopping 16 crores on the first day. Just when everybody felt that Sachin Tendulkar’s last international innings would be a spoiler for team Ram-Leela good news comes in that the film has made a grand opening. This is Deepika Padukone‘s fifth biggest opening while Ranveer Singh’s biggest opening till date. This film is at No. 10 position in the Top 25 films. While the film is faring very well at the multiplexes its doing decently at the single screen theatres too. This dispute the screening being halted at some theatres.
Trade expert Komal Nahta too confirms that Ram-Leela successful start at the box-office on Twitter, “In spite of opposition of Sachin Tendulkar, RAM-LEELA opens to excellent houses. Controversy se nuksaan nahi, faayda hee hua. Controversies se agitationists ne di #RamLeela ko gaaliyaan. But cinema houses mein sunayi de rahi hai sirf taaliyaan!” Taran Adarsh states, “The film remains the first choice of moviegoers this week, dethroning the superhero flick Krrish 3. Point to be noted is that the advance booking for Ram-Leela was affected due to the legal issues and uncertainty over its release. Despite that, the opening has been very good, while the current bookings are witnessing ample footfalls to ensure a strong total. The business on Saturday and Sunday is only expected to get bigger, since the word of mouth and reviews have been marvellous.”
Not only in India but Deepika-Ranveer’s film has garnered positive response in international markets especially Australian where the film made a total 66,365 A$ according to Trade analyst Taran Adarsh. Ram-Leela was released in 550 screens internationally.
