The supremely talented father-son duo is all set to step into the legendary shoes of their grandfathers – Prithviraj Kapoor and Raj Kapoor respectively – in the classic film remake
Ranbir Kapoor has been dreaming of re-launching his paternal dada Raj Kapoor’s prestigious production house, RK Films. There was news way back then that the Kapoor lad had also found the perfect script to bring back the glory that his family banner once knew. But then the actor didn’t really take it forward for reasons best known to him. Recently, Ranboo expressed his wish to start his own production house, but didn’t mention anything related to reviving his grandfather’s banner.
Though the Barfi! actor preferred to keep mum, his excited father Rishi Kapoor spilled the beans on reviving the RK banner in a recent interview. “A remake of Awara is on our minds, and in all likelihood, we will be doing it for our banner, RK Films.” When asked whether he’ll direct the film, the Agneepath actor point blank denied it. And RJ Junior too has said that he is not really interested in directing films at this stage in his career.
What better way to re-launch the respected banner than the Awara remake! But before that, Rishi and Ranbir will be seen sharing screen space in Abhinav Kashyap’s Besharam, along with another effortless actor from the Kapoor family – Neetu Kapoor. In the new Awara, Ranbir and his dad will reprise their grandfathers’ roles – Ranbir will play the new-age Raj Kapoor, while Rishi will reprise Prithviraj Kapoor’s character. Now we can’t wait to see the two powerhouse actors reliving roles that are so close to their hearts!
