Ranbir Kapoor, Imtiaz Ali & AR Rahman team up again

The Rockstar team is coming together again, but this time it will be for a comedy film

Imtiaz Ali’s Rockstar catapulted Ranbir Kapoor into the big league of Bollywood. Much credit for the success of this love story belonged to music director AR Rahman. There were rumours about producer Sajid Nadiadwala requesting Imtiaz to make a sequel to the superhit musical. At that point the makers weren’t particularly excited about revisiting the tragic story of a musician, so nothing more was heard of it.

The latest news is that Nadiadwala will be producing a film that will be directed by Imtiaz and have Ranbir playing the leading man. To add to our excitement, the Mozart of Madras will be the music director of this untitled movie, slated to be a comedy. Of course, there is a lot of time for this project to take off, as Nadiadwala himself has two huge films – Tiger Shroff’s launch followed by 2 States – coming up, with Kick somewhere in the equation. The most interesting facet about Imtiaz’s film is that he will be working on a new genre…for him, at least. And we hear that Anushka Sharma is a frontrunner for the female lead in this one, though Katrina Kaif, with her quick smile and crazy delivery (remember Ajab Prem ki Gazab Kahaani and Mere Brother ki Dulhan?) could pip the Rab Ne Bana Di Jodi gal to this post.

Of course, we can always count on RK Jr and ARR to enthrall us, no matter what the film is…
