Ranbir Kapoor in ‘Dabangg’ director Abhinav Kashyap’s next film
The Rockstar actor will play a local ruffian
Here’s something really strange that we heard this morning. Dabangg director Abhinav Kashyap is ready to start work on his next film. Nothing strange about that, you’ll say. The thing that is strange about it is that it’s going to have someone quite similar to Salman Khan’s Chulbul Pandey as its main character. That’s the buzz in tinseltown – the director has decided to take the main lead of Dabangg and rework him from an uncouth rural Bihari cop into an uncouth city slicker from Mumbai. What’s even stranger is that Abhinav has roped in Ranbir Kapoor to play a street smart tapori (ruffian)!
Ranbir with his urbane image will have to attend workshops to change his body language and accent to suit an uneducated guy from the lower strata of Mumbai society. We hear Ranbir is gung-ho about doing the role and has already allocated dates for the film. We loved the glimpse of him as a tapori in his song in Chillar Party, but we wonder if he can really pull it off in a full-fledged role. Actually Abhinav had planned an adventure story with Ranbir but somehow that fell through. Looks like he decided to indulge in his Dabangg hangover rather than try something new. Hey, if it worked once, it can work again, right?
