Ranbir Kapoor or Hrithik Roshan – Who will host Bigg Boss 8?
Yogen Shah

There seems to be a lot of confusion regarding the new host of India’s most controversial reality show

It’s almost confirmed that Salman Khan won’t be returning to host the next season of India’s most controversial reality show, Bigg Boss. Earlier it was rumoured that Ranbir Kapoor will step into the Dabangg Khan’s shoes to anchor the eighth season. Later, Ranveer Singh’s name was also in the running. Now we hear that Priyanka Chopra and Hrithik Roshan are also being considered to host the eighth season of the high voltage reality show.

While Ranveer was leading the race to be the Bigg Boss 8 host, now it looks like the makers are keen on finalising Ranbir. “Salman has his own impeccable style that audiences have grown to like. But Ranbir has a tremendous fan following and youngsters love him. He has hosted a couple of award shows earlier and if he hosts this show, it will get a makeover of sorts,” a source close to the production house was quoted by a tabloid.

Is it a true story or just another rumour? Well, all we can do is just wait and watch.Subscribe to me on YouTube

i dont think any of them want to do this, so you guys should stop

    • Aryan

LOL, Any of them ”should not” do this to make a fool of themselves and flop the show (just like Sanjay Dutt once did) :P
      Salman is the best :)

Hrithik & Priyanka should keep their careers clean & classy – soon as you enter the world of sleazy reality shows people see you in a different light, and your career could take a nosedive. Word of advice – don’t go there!

    • Anu Pathak

I really like you cause i find your comments, where there are news about Hrithik Roshan though you are from Australia.

      • Cattypuss

That’s very kind of you – I guess I stand out a little because I am not Indian. I actually found Hrithik by accident. I have Indian friends who own a couple of restaurants in the city I live near – and while recovering from an operation they said I should watch some of their Bollywood movies to pass the time. They suggested I start of with Jodhaa Ackbar – and as I have said to others I don’t understand Hindi – so for me it’s all viewed in English subtitles. Dhoom 2 was my second movie with Hrithik and Ash. I have now bought both movies. I watch many others on Youtube or sections of them. If I think they are good I will go ahead and buy the DVD. We also have a multicultural TV channel that screens Bollywood movies, and that is how I came across SRK as well. Now I am hooked! I find your Indian movies very entertaining, they are very different from Western movies and that is what makes them so exceptional. Especially the well executed ones like Jodhaa Ackbar. Honestly I can’t understand why Roshan doesn’t have a bigger presence on the international scene. He’s very talented, versatile and very easy on the eye :-) He’s speaks excellent English, so he should definitely get more expose in the West. I am hoping that 2014 is a much happier year for him than last year. Here’s hoping…..
        regards,

I am his fan ever since his first movie “Kaho Na Pyar Hai” was released. Yeah i am totally agree with you that Hrithik is epitome of talent. He should break the barrier of being called only as bollywood star.Lets hope he will get a chance to show his awesome personality and acting skill on bigger platform.

          • Cattypuss

Yes – I am currently trying to buy his first movie effort. But as they come from England I have to be careful about the region code. Some are multi-regional, others are not. I think this movie is done for region 2 – which is Europe. His Bang Bang is loosely based on the Tom Cruise film Day and Night. However, the one I am looking forward to is Shuddhi.

          • Anu Pathak

I am very much impressed by the information u have about Hrithik and his upcoming movies.I am also waiting for both Bang Bang and Shuddhi.

          • Cattypuss

Apparently Kareena is rather aloof about the movie – she thinks she ‘might’ do Shuddhi if she’s ‘in the mood’ O_O looks like the director is now looking at Deepika? I also looked at Hrithik and Sonam’s recent Oppo commercial – even my husband enjoyed watching that :-) They did a splendid job of it it too – and I thought Hrithik was rather dashing as the corporate guy, in his blue/red vest and grey shirt. He looked rather dishy :-) I’ll close for now, it’s nearly midnight where I am and I need the zzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzzz.

            Bye for now,
            Lynette

          • Anu Pathak

Yeah i also read about that, Deepika will make good pair with Hrithik. I also like the chemistry between Sonam and Hrithik in the OPPO mobile ad.

    • Karan

Nice to see your comment again! I honestly don’t think that Hrithik would host such a show. Neither he’s interested to host this kind of a controversial show, nor his personality suits to do so. He has only judged a dance show in past, named ‘Just Dance’ which was well received by the people.

On your reply to Anu, as I said previously, some movies were offered to him from Hollywood which he denied for some unknown reasons. Maybe he doesn’t want much exposure, or whatever the reason is/was. After all, 2013 aside, he was hardly in media spotlight, much lower than other top stars who can be seen in headlines in each month.

There are two things which I hate about him, first, the fact he only does 1 movie in 1-2 year, he’s done only 10 movies in past 10 years, and second one that he didn’t capitalize on his Hollywood offers. He could have become a much bigger global star. Some actors here in India can only dream of it, I don’t know why he rejected them. I don’t know about him, but most of his fans are surely regretting his decision lol.

I think he would make a perfect James Bond, in fact, he can do justice with any character for that matter, he has already proved his versatility.

      • Cattypuss

I agree – he is too level headed and reserved to risk his career and reputation in hosting such a show – and yes, I have seen some sections of his ‘Just Dance’ episodes on Youtube. He has a very caring nature and that comes across in his treatment of the contestants involved.

The one thing I have noticed about him is this – he is VERY guarded when interviewed. His body language gives him away on that score. When questions get too close for comfort he puts his hand up to his face and you can see it in his eyes. The closest I have seen him to being relaxed is an interview I saw by Karan Johar – ‘Coffee with Karan’. He was with Priyanka and they were bouncing off each other having some fun.

On the subject of Hollywood – I think he is trying too hard to look for that ‘perfect vehicle’ for himself. He admitted he had dozens of scripts to go through – you might find they were all pretty bad. You know, B grade stuff. Let’s face facts ,what is coming out of that place lately isn’t exactly high class. They only make a few gems each year. If I was to give Hrithik any advice, I would try an enter one of Amercia’s top drama institutes and learn some method acting, and get to know the movers and shakers within. Most of America’s top actors have come from these colleges. If he came to the attention of these guys doors would definitely open for him. The problem is – does he have faith in himself? On a personal level he’s seems so full of doubt and is so introspective. He’s needs to cut himself some slack and enjoy life more. He’s too hard on himself.

I am about to watch Dhoom 2 again – this time with new glasses so I can identify everyone and read the damned subtitles!!! I have also just bought his first movie Kaho Na Pyar Hai. This is in All Regions, so I should be safe. :-)
Great to speak with you again,
        regards,
        Lynette.

        • Karan

I agree with you, you really have a lot of knowledge about this, and you’re also a great adviser.

I have also seen many of his interviews, and he was basically same, guarded in all of those except the one on Koffee With Karan along with Priyanka, I think he was trying to be funny in that one, and wasn’t much serious. It is known to be the best chat/interview show here. He has gone there 3 times, including one with his wife in season 3!

On Hollywoood, I think the problem is, does he even wants to go there ? He’s a very enthusiastic person with full of positive energy, that’s the reason why some people don’t find his interviews entertaining, because of his philosophical and inspiring attitude. He would have definitely tried once or twice to make to Hollywood had he actually had any intentions of going there.
You are right about him probably waiting for right project, not some B grade stuff, but Prince Of Persia 2010 was a costly project, he rejected that too. An actor who wants global fame with the help of a Hollywood film wouldn’t have rejected it, especially if he has never done a Hollywood film and was waiting for the call.

I thought enjoying his life is one of strong reasons why he does only few films. He’s known to be a caring family person, and gave/gives as much time to his wife and children as he can. He’s not happy now for sure, he recently CRIED while shooting for an Oppo mobile commercial, he’s really hurt by the separation with his wife. If I were him, I would have taken some months off, taking rest and preparing myself mentally. But, he gives his 100% in each of his commitment, and doesn’t want his current projects to be further postponed, makers have already suffered some loss because of his health issues. This is very tough time for him both mentally and physically.

Ha, I hope you won’t face any problem this time, its way too hard to watch and understand a movie with a language you’re not familiar with, by only relying on subtitles.
You won’t be disappointed by Kaho Na Pyar Hai either.

You should also watch Guzaarish, it was a masterpiece, it is also regarded as his best performance by most critics, even better than Jodhaa Akbar. He made me cry with Guzaarish, which is based on a serious topic. It wasn’t a box office success, but it is one of the most critically acclaimed movies in Bollywood. A clip which you sent to me,had some scenes from it. Coincidentally, Aishwarya Rai also co starred in Guzaarish.

          • Cattypuss

I read somewhere that he is paying some motivational guru to keep him upbeat. This is the wrong guy for him at this point in his life. He is definitely deeply depressed over this martial split and this needs medical attention, not some Tony Robbins impersonator. Hrithik seems to rely heavily on these so called ‘life coaches’. I hate to say it, but in my view they are professional leaches praying on people’s vulnerability – and Roshan is very vulnerable at this stage. I saw his OPPO commercial – he did a splendid job of that, as did Sonam. It’s frustrating for me that I will never be able to reach out to him and give him some advice. As a woman, and having served years as a professional nurse I see this time and time again in men who have a tendency to suffer depression when under the pump. He should seek out a professional psychologist who will guide him through all this heartache. Men do not handle separation very well.

As for Hrithik not making so many movies – He has been diversifying his career of late. With commercials, and now his HRX brand of clothing – partnering with Myantra. I think he might be laying the groundwork for the day he wants to quit acting. He has a degree in Commerce so that will serve him well if he wants to expand in this area. He has said that directing also might be something he might enjoy exploring. His father is one, so nothing like making it a family affair, huh? :-)

Guzaarish – yes, from what I have seen & heard (pieces of it) it is indeed very good. Euthanasia is never a pretty subject, even in the West – and Roshan was very brave to attempt such a role given that Indian audiences are used to action/romance movies. But this movie would have had real appeal to educated Indians like yourself because it challenges the senses. I like the pairing of Hrithik and Ash – they have an excellent onscreen presence together.

Getting back to the problems he is enduring atm – It’s commendable that he is making extra efforts to see his boys – it is vitally important right now, as they would be confused about why daddy isn’t with them now. I don’t know what happened in the marriage, but maybe, given time, they might be able to heal the rift, and have another try. Of course Sussanne is the one holding all the cards right now. Hrithik needs loyal friends who will stand by him and be there for him – and I actually think that WORK is the best thing for him right now.

            regards,
            Lynette

Karan – this is an afterthought. I think I know why he didn’t take the offer of Prince of Persia. In his mind this movie was too close to the Jodhaa Ackbar theme he just completed, and he has reiterated many times that he doesn’t want to fall into the trap of being stereotyped. Still, I would have accepted it, as it would have been an excellent vehicle for him to break into the Hollywood scene. He seemed to have gone with Kites for this attempt and from all reports it didn’t seem to quite fire for him. He’s only 40 and he still has time to get a big break and make his mark. :-)

Hrithik is an absolutely marvelous actor but he is also too serious and sober to host such a show! On the other hand, Ranbir or Shahid Kapoor would better suit such a show! Seeing Shahid on Koffee with Karan, we saw his witty side and he did a fantastic job as Host in awards shows!

    • Cattypuss

I recently watched Shahid on Youtube in a policeman skit – even though I couldn’t fully understand, his body language was enough – he was hilarious!! Very funny guy – and his dance with Hrithik in other clip was pure comedy as well.

  • Sasha

Please bring back Salman Big Boss!

  • Aryan

WTH? Keep SALMAN KHAN or no need to have any Bigg Boss 8. Without Salman, Bigg Boss will be a ”BIGG BORE”. So spare us the nonsense of these boring personalities and stick to Salman Khan only. He’s the best host BB can ever get.

  • Karan

What makes you think that Hrithik would agree to host such a controversial show? They are just trying to get some publicity, nothing more.
However, I can see Ranbir, Priyanka and Ranveer doing it, they won’t mind getting into headlines.

P.S. – Do you guys don’t have any other picture of Hrithik? I have been noticing it from a while.
