Ranbir Kapoor’s Bombay Velvet to clash with Aamir Khan’s P.K.?

If media reports are to be believed, then Ranbir and Aamir would battle it out at the box office this year

The makers of Ranbir Kapoor and Anushka Sharma starrer Bombay Velvet are eyeing a Christmas release as their film would be ready by October. While BV so far had no competition at the BO, we now hear Aamir Khan’s P.K. could well release around the same time. Now that’s not surprising considering Khan’s recent films – Dhoom:3, 3 Idiots, Ghajini and Taare Zameen Par hit the theatres during Christmas. Interestingly, all of them turned out to be blockbusters so if AK sticks to his lucky release date it is understandable, hai na? At the same time, it’s a bit strange coz reports were doing the rounds that Aamir starrer would release on June 6. We wonder why the makers of P.K. have postponed the film’s release. Is it a marketing strategy or is Mr Perfectionist being superstitious? Could be anyone of them wethinks!

“Aamir has had a word with Raju Sir (Raju Hirani; director/co-producer) about it. And it’s not just Aamir; the distributors – after the big success of Dhoom:3 – are also keen on a Christmas release. The makers haven’t yet taken the decision to push the release date,” an insider said to a leading lady.

If these two films release on the same day then it’s going to be one of the biggest box office battles of 2014. However, the makers of Bombay Velvet are clueless about the new developments. When Vikas Bahl was contacted by a leading daily, the co-producer of BV said, “Right now, all I can say is that our film we be ready around October. So we can choose any date in December or otherwise. We are yet to take a final call.”

It’s good to have competition at the box office but if it is Aamir then it could be a problem. After all, he is one actor who hardly misses his target, no? And even if RK’s film is good, Khan’s P.K. would certainly eat away half of its BO collection. So it would be wise if someone averted this clash wethinks!Subscribe to me on YouTube
