Ranbir Kapoor’s ‘Rockstar’ leads GiMA Awards 2012 nominations

Rockstar has 11 nominations including seven for AR Rahman, while RA.One and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara have eight nominations each at the 3rd Global Indian Music Academy Awards 2012

Nominations for the 2012 Global Indian Music Academy Awards are out, and the Film Music category is dominated by Ranbir Kapoor-starrer Rockstar with 11 nominations.

Music maestro AR Rahman has not less than seven noms for Rockstar, while the others chosen from the team include singers Mohit Chauhan, Harshdeep Kaur and Javed Ali. Rahman has also been nominated for Best Music Arranger and Programmer and Best Background score apart from the soundtrack.

A few steps behind is Shahrukh Khan‘s ambitious film RA.One that ties with Hrithik Roshan‘s Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara – both have eight nominations each. Followed by music trio Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy who have six nominations for Zindagi Milegi Na Dobara and Don 2. Composer duo Vishal-Shekhar is close with five noms for RA.One, The Dirty Picture and Kahaani.

Singer Shreya Ghoshal is a hot fave with three nominations for songs like Chikni Chameli (Agneepath), Ooh lala (The Dirty Picture), Saibo (Shor in the City) and Gun gun guna (Agneepath). Actor-singer Ayushmann Khurrana’s chartbusting Paani da from his film Vicky Donor has got him three noms –  for Best Debut Composer, Best Lyricist and Best Singer. While veteran lyricist-poet Javed Akhtar has two noms for Best Lyricist for Senorita and Khaabon ke Parinday – both from his daughter Zoya Akhtar’s award-winning directorial Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.

Akon, who made his Bollywood debut with Chammak Challo in Shahrukh Khan’s RA.One, has been nominated for song as Best Playback Singe. Mika’s got lucky with Subah hone na de from Housefull 2. Kamal Khan is among the ones chosen in the Best Debut category, for his hit song Ishq sufiana from (The Dirty Picture).

The Best Film Album nominations includes Aamir Khan’s production Delhi Belly that had songs like Bhaag DK Bose, along with RA.One, Rockstar, The Dirty Picture and Zindagi Na Milegi Dobara.
