Move over Vidya Balan, Rani Mukerji is all set to change the face of item numbers

If Vidya Balan can sizzle in The Dirty Picture, can Rani Mukerji be far behind? The actor has agreed to perform three hot item songs in her next film, Aiyya. Its director Sachin Kundalkar revealed to IANS, “The film is a mixture of reality and dream and Rani will be seen doing three item songs in her dream in the film. Amit Trivedi has composed six songs for the film and three of them will be Rani’s item songs.” The Bengali beauty will play a Marathi mulgi (girl) in Aiyya and Sachin claims that Rani got into the character completely. But what we want to know is if she can sizzle like Vidya. We are sure even Vidya wants to know that!

The two heroines were friends till their film No One Killed Jessica released. Vidya walked away with the accolades while Rani was relegated to a supporting actor status. That naturally didn’t go down well with Rani – considering she had a longer role – and the rivalry began. Tigmanshu Dhulia inadvertently added fuel to the fire when he approached both Vidya and Rani for his period film. Aiyya seems to be Rani’s attempt at outdoing Vidya, who had quite a few item songs in TDP and, despite her loose abs and jiggly hips, was much appreciated in them. Three item songs in one film is a good start and we hope they jump start her career once again.
