The Aiyyaa actor reveals why she wants to stay away from dark films
Rani Mukerji returns to the big screen with bulbs flashing all around her in Aiyyaa. And she reveals that that’s just what she wanted. “When Anurag (Kashyap) came to me I told him that I can’t do the kind of movies that he makes…that I don’t want to do dark films. I told Anurag I want to do a happy film. I was surprised when Anurag told me he is offering me a happy film,” the actor said at the launch of the film’s first trailer.
But why is the Mukerji babe running away from murky scripts? “I wanted to do something different. As I had done dark films like No One Killed Jessica and to be released Talaash, I wanted to do something different, hence chose this movie,” Rani revealed. Hmmm, so is this a case of been-there-done-that? Perhaps.
What’s more, with dark movies like Gangs of Wasseypur I and II, Raaz 3, Jism 2 crowding the theatres steadily, wethinks that it’s a wise decision on Rani’s part to focus on the brighter side of life – even if it involves feeling torn between two men in her life.
But do you think RM will shine just right or will her antics make us squint all through the movie? You tell us, dear readers – do you think Rani Mukerji’s comic timing will hit the bull’s eye with Aiyyaa?
