Rani Mukerji to begin shooting for Hichki from April, film to hit theatres this year

We had reported way back in February that Rani Mukerji is all set to make a comeback to Bollywood movies post motherhood with Hichki. The movie is being made under the banner of Yash Raj Films and will be produced by Maneesh Sharma, and directed by Siddharth P Malhotra. Hichki will revolve around Rani Mukerji’s character, who will be depicted as a woman who had turned her biggest weakness into her biggest strength. Rani Mukerji had a Facebook Live chat with her fans where she revealed that she will be shooting for the movie from next month. She also revealed that the movie will release this year itself. That’s quite a short and fast production, I must say.

Earlier, when the project was announced, Rani Mukerji had issued an official statement where she said, “I was looking for a script that would challenge and excite me, and Hichki came my way. Each of us has a weakness that pulls us back. It could be a disability or any condition but if we just look at it as simply a hiccup, we can emerge as a winner. It won’t come in the way of achieving our dreams. Hichki is built on this positive premise and I decided to take it up.”

Hichki will be Siddharth P Malhotra’s second movie as a director after We Are Family with Kajol, Kareena Kapoor Khan and Arjun Rampal, which was a Dharma Production. This will be his first movie with YRF. Hichki will be Maneesh Sharma’s third film as a producer with Yash Raj Films after Dum Laga Ke Haisha and the forthcoming Meri Pyaari Bindu. Wishing the entire team all the very best!
