Marred by the non-existent plot and loud, in-your-face comedy, Rascals, in spite of enjoying a good opening, fails to sustain
Clearly the auspicious day of Dussehra was not good enough for the unusual trio Sanjay Dutt, Ajay Devgn and Kangna Ranaut’s Rascals. Given its juvenile comedy and bad screenplay the film simply tumbled at box office after a decent opening. One factor which worked strongly in Rascals‘ favour was the four-day-long weekend which fetched maximum number of Ajay and Sanju baba fans to the theatres. The movie did a business of Rs 7.53 crore on the opening day and then collected Rs 5.50, 4.70 and 4.35 crore on the following three days respectively. Filmgoers had to choose among Soundtrack, Love Breakups Zindagi and Rascals, the traffic was obviously driven by Rascals, the only star-studded film of the lot. Though the film was predicted to cross the Rs 30 crore mark, it just halted at a lowly Rs 22 crore till the weekend and Monday saw almost nobody come to the theatres. In short, October has started on a dull note for Bollywood.
