Raveena Tandon gears up for a cougar act
After Daman, the National Award-winner intends to shock and surprise her fans in Shobhna’s Seven Nights
Ravishing glam queen of the ’90s Raveena Tandon, after playing a battered wife in Kalpana Lajmi’s film, is gearing up for one more gritty but pretty role of a seductive socialite – something like a cougar – in Sudipto Chattopadhay’s Shobhna’s Seven Nights (earlier known as Shobhana 7 Nights). Earlier, the director made the eyebrow-raising Pankh, starring Bipasha Basu, in 2010.
Coming back to Shobhna’s Seven Nights, the film’s a bold story of a celebrity columnist who gets in a passionate relationship with a much-younger, struggling actor, played by newbie Amit Purohit. Will the film be light and fun like the popular American TV show, Cougar Town starring Courtney Cox? Nada! In an interview Chattopadhay said that S7N will be a dark and dangerous depiction of high-flying authors in the city.
Looks like the stupendous success of Vidya Balan’s The Dirty Picture has inspired a gang of filmmakers to come up with heroine oriented films. But will all these – Heroine, English Vinglish and Shobhna’s Seven Nights – recreate the magic Silk’s act did on the box office? Let’s wait to find out!
