She wasn’t, actually. The makers of this much-talked-about movie flatly deny signing the Bong babe for the gangster flick. And it wasn’t because of her ex John Abraham
A couple of months ago B-town was abuzz with the news of Bipasha Basu playing a cameo in Shootout At Wadala. We were told that the actor would play the role of Chitra, a dancer who is romantically involved with Dawood Ibrahim’s brother Sabir. The role was a tiny one that included an item number.
But post the John-Abraham-trying-to-oust-Bipasha-Basu episode, the makers have decided to clear the air surrounding the casting of the movie. “Neither Ekta Kapoor nor I have ever claimed that Bipasha was a part of the film. So where is the question of her being out of the film? The last thing is to accuse John of doing something unprofessional. He does not in any way interfere in the casting process of the film. His silence should not be taken for granted. People are even saying that Naseerbhai and Nana Patekar are in the film, but all I want to say is that nothing is finalised as of now,” director Sanjay Gupta said in an interview. Oops!
But if that’s true, what was all that fuss about a Bong actor finding it hard to learn the mujra moves choreographed by Vaibhavi Merchant? “The closest Bipasha has come to a mujra was ‘Beedi jalaile’ in Omkara. But that’s not what I want from her,” Gupta said a month ago. Ah! So was that the reason why you dropped Bips from the list, dear Sanjay? Perhaps.
