Sakshi Tanwar and Ram Kapoor begin shooting for Ekta Kapoor’s new webseries Kehte Hai Opposites Attract

She was last seen on television in the finite series, 24 — Season 2 and now, Sakshi Tanwar is set to make her online debut with a web-series called Kehte Hai Opposites Attract. It’s a bold foray for someone absent from the social media scene. The actress only uses her smartphone for making phone calls.

About the series
And while Sakshi refuses to divulge details about the series or her role, she shares that it’s about how two people can fall in love anytime. The web-series will see her paired with her Bade Acche Laggte Hai co-star Ram Kapoor and will be streamed on Ekta Kapoor’s digital platform ALT Balaji.

In the real space
Ask her what prompted her to do a web series and she says it’s primarily the story and her character. “It’s great to be a part of something which I have never tried out before. It is a new territory for me and the production house is ready to break new ground on the digital platform.” The actress who has started shooting for it, loves the fact that they shoot at actual locations as opposed to studios where serials are usually shot. “Also, the shots are a little more realistic and in the real space,” she says.

Because of Ekta
Also, the fact that it is streamed on Ekta’s digital platform made it easier for Sakshi to decide. “I am proud of the stories I was a part of with her (Kahaani Ghar Ghar Kii, Bade Acche Laggte Hai). Now, I look forward to my new digital journey that is starting with her. There is a lot of trust when it comes to Ekta,” she says.

Tested pair
As for working with Ram again, she says it’s a tested pairing. “We have done a TV show that was successful and popular. We did amazing work together and I want to do something equally exciting on digital,” she shares.

Keeping it short
Sakshi feels she enjoys shooting web-series episodes because they are short and crisp. “These miniseries and the ones like 24, give you an option of exploring various subjects, and enact many more characters than a soap of a longer duration with less time to experiment.”

In fact, Sakshi would like to be part of more finite series after her last outing in 24. “It was creatively satisfying and I got an amazing response,” she says. Does that mean she is not keen on doing soaps anymore? “It all depends on what I am offered and my frame of mind. After 24, I am busy with this series and for me, it’s always been one thing at a time.”

How she compares with Shah Rukh Khan
According to data provided by AdEx India, a division of TAM Media Research, to a business daily, when it comes to visibility in terms of brand endorsement, Shah Rukh Khan tops the chart with 40,132 minutes of visibility every day. Sakshi is second best with 16,275 minutes. This, despite Sakshi only endorsing eight brands! “Although there is a huge gap between me and SRK, I am both surprised and happy,” says Sakshi, who is particular about the brands she chooses to endorse.
