Salim Khan to get Kishore Kumar award

The veteran filmmaker has been chosen for this honour by the culture department of Madhya Pradesh

Salim Khan, along with his partner Javed Akhtar, is recognised for bringing respect to writers in Bollywood. The duo has given some of the most memorable and blockbuster films in their prime. A few of their best works have been in Sholay, Andaz, Hathi Mere Sathi, Sita Aur Gita, Yaadon Ki Baraat, Zanjeer, Majboor, Deewar, Don, Trishul, Kala Pathar and Shaan.

Salim Khan hails from Indore and news is that the culture department of Madhya Pradesh has decided to present him with the Kishore Kumar Award this year. Culture Minister Laxmikant Sharma said, “The selection committee unanimously decided to bestow this award on Khan who has carved out his distinguished place in the field of film script writing through his outstanding and continued activeness for the last 40 years.”

It is good to know that Mr Khan’s contribution to cinema is being acknowledged by the state of his origin.
