Executive Producer of the Dabangg dude’s new film has filed a case against its producer. Read on…
Ever since Salman Khan’s Kick was announced, the film has been jinxed. The latest in a long string of trouble we have heard of is that the executive producer Swapna David has filed a suit against producer-director Sajid Nadiadwala. Why? The story goes like this: Apparently Swapna had arranged a nine-day shoot for Kick in Glasgow. However, that was cancelled due to Sallu’s visa troubles. The producers blamed Swapna for the delay in getting Salman’s visa and issued a legal notice to her. What more, the filmmakers even circulated an email through the industry that read: “Swapna is involved in taking commissions/kickbacks from people who have been paid by the production company for services rendered by them.”
This email managed to cast a shadow on Swapna’s reputation and she suffered professionally and emotionally. So she retaliated. And as per the suit filed by her lawyer, “Swapna has been made to suffer not only by way of loss of reputation but also morally, due to mental torture and agony.” The executive producer has demanded a compensation of just Re.1. She says, “I have asked for only Re. 1 as compensation, as no one can put a value on character and integrity. The whole episode has been an attempt to malign me so that they could delay payment due to the crew and suppliers in UK. I have not filed this suit for publicity nor for my money, but for the money he owes the crew in UK. Abuse of power to harass an individual for an agenda should never be encouraged.”
Kick is Nadiadwala’s directorial debut and ever since the project kicked off it has been in trouble. First an accident happened when the first schedule was supposed to take off. Then there were issues with Salman’s visa. The filmmakers had a tough time finalising a female lead before roping in Jacqueline Fernandez. All we can say is, we hope the jinx on Kick is gone at last!
