Sanjay Dutt found it difficult to play Kancha Cheena

And we mean it quite literally! The star actor reveals what he didn’t like doing to play the baddie in the Agneepath remake

When the Rascals actor heard the script narration of Agneepath from filmmaker Karan Malhotra, he jumped with joy at the thought of playing a bad guy once again. However, when he reached the sets of the Dharma production, he was a little concerned about getting into the shoes of the manic Kancha Cheena. Director Malhotra wanted his Kancha Cheena to at least look like Danny Denzongpa’s version of the crazy villain. He wanted Sanju Baba to be bald in the film. So, a prosthetics and make-up team was called in from the US to get his look right. But the sweltering heat of Diu where the film was shot made it uncomfortable for the star actor to wear the silicon rubber wig. The actor who has played bad guys in the past, in an interview to a trade magazine says, “I was also very uncomfortable wearing it (prosthetics) and I thought it was close to impossible to wear it for the entire shooting schedule of 50 to 60 days.” Not only that, putting on the prosthetics meant spending two to three hours in front of the mirror, before and after the shoot. So, one fine day, after consulting friends, Baba went ahead and shaved his head and ditched the prosthetics. After that he loved being on the sets each day. Let’s hope his efforts are worthwhile this time.
