Sanjay Leela Bhansali to take 50% of profits from the Ranveer Singh-Deepika Padukone starrer Bajirao Mastani

SLB strikes a unique deal with Eros International for his upcoming magnum opus

Sanjay Leela Bhansali’s upcoming magnum opus Bajirao Mastani has locked-in the cast and the shooting is all set to go on floors recently. Grapevine has it now that the ace director will not charge a single penny for directing the film. On the contrary he will make money in some other way. Want to know what?

The ace director has struck a unique deal with producer Sunil Lulla. He will not be charging any moolah for the direction but he will take away 50% of the movies profits. A source close to the development, told a leading daily, “Earlier, only big stars demanded a share in profits but today, many A-list directors take 25-30% of the profits from studios in lieu of their remuneration. Bhansali has doubled that figure, but there is a reason for the move. Bhansali is confident about the fate of the film and knows he will not be shortchanged. It’s a smart move.”

The news was confirmed by the Eros spokesperson. The film, which will star Ranveer Singh and Deepika Padukone, will be extensively shot in Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Gujarat. Ranveer Singh starts shooting by the year end but Deepika Padukone will only report on the sets in February 2015, after she is done with Imtiaz Ali’s Tamaasha and Shoojit Sircar’s Piku.
