The new trailer of Prakash Jha’s political drama introduces characters and describe how they unite to fight against injustice
Prakash Jha’s films have always effectively explored the changing socio-economic environment and the harsh realities affecting the life of the aam junta. Jha’s latest multi-starrer political drama Satyagraha deals with the movement of the middle-class to renegotiate democracy and fight against corruption.
Manav Raghavendra aka Ajay Devgn is an ambitious entrepreneur who represents modern India’s shining philosophy with the goal to make 500 million in five years and one billion in ten years. Dwarka Anand, played by Amitabh Bachchan, is a firm believer in Gandhian principles who pioneers the Satyagraha movement. Social activist Arjun Rampal aims to be a politician, while fearless political journalist Yasmine Ahmed is essayed by Kareena Kapoor Khan; wily politician Balram Singh aka Manoj Bajpayee uses every means possible to break the system. The new promo shows how these four – Big B, Ajay, Arjun and Kareena – discover one another, and come together to raise hell, shaking the powers that be to their very roots.
Manoj, as usual, shines brightest among the rest, but Ajay has some powerful one-liners. One scene in which Devgn warns Bajpayee in his inimitable style strikes a chord: ‘Kanoon toh banega, aur gat-bandhan toh kya aapki bhi gaanth kholkar aisa nanga karenge ke aap bheek mangenge aur vote ka ek tukda bhi nahi milega’.
