Last Friday, Saket Chaudhary’s Shaadi Ke Side Effects hit the theatres and though it started on a slow note, the film picked up during the weekend
Farhan Akhtar and Vidya Balan’s Shaadi Ke Side Effects which released on Friday (February 28) witnessed an average opening. While the sequel of Mallika Sherawat and Rahul Bose starrer Pyaar Ke Side Effects garnered good reviews from critics, the rom-com failed to get a flying start on its opening day and managed to collect only a little over Rs 5 crore. However, Saket Chaudhary’s latest offering fared well on the weekend. Film critic and trade Analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “After a decent start on Friday, Shaadi Ke Side Effects witnesses big jump in biz on Saturday. Shaadi Ke Side Effects Fri 5.70 cr, Sat 7.55 cr, Sun 8.01 cr. Total: 21.26 cr nett. India biz only. Very good growth over weekend.” Interestingly, SKSE seems to be doing very well overseas too. “In UK and Australia too, Shaadi Ke Side Effects grows 35% to 40% on Saturday. USA-Canada starts on a solid note!” posted Adarsh.
According to Boxofficeindia, “Shaadi Ke Side Effects did well over its first weekend as it collected around Rs 21 crore nett in its first weekend as per early estimates. This was despite the business of the film being affected by the cricket matches on Friday and Sunday. The matches involving India probably hit the film for Rs 1 crore nett on Friday and a similar amount on Sunday.”
While the Farhan and Vidya starrer has done well at the ticket windows so far, wethinks the film may find it tough to sustain in the coming days as three big films will hit the screens this Friday – Kangana Ranaut’s Queen, Madhuri Dixit-Nene and Juhi Chawla much-talked about Gulaab Gang and Ali Zafar-Yami Gautam’s Total Siyappa.
