The actor-activist will make her presence felt at the event by talking about her life and work in cinema and her journey as an activist
Shabana Azmi will be present in Vancouver on June 11, highlighting the attitude towards women in films and in society in general. The festival will be held from July 4-13, 2013, and she will be attending the festival preview event in June. She will also be conferred with an honorary degree from Simon Fraser University on June 12.
Azmi will also have a Q & A interaction with the audience after the event. The actor was last seen in Mira Nair’s The Reluctant Fundamentalist in which she played the role of Ammi.
Since the actor has been actively involved in women’s rights, she has been invited by the organizers to have a candid chat about issues affecting women. The festival, apart from an intense discussion with actor, will also include fun-filled events that will offer a taste of Indian culture.
