Alia Bhatt has been on a roll this year. All her three films – Kapoor & Sons, Udta Punjab and Dear Zindagi have turned out be hits. The audience has loved the film and we can see it through the box office collections. Dear Zindagi had collected Rs 32.75 crore over the first weekend itself, beating the weekend collection of Kapoor & Sons by a mile. It even held its audience after dipping on the first Monday. And now, after 6 days it has earned Rs 44 crore.
Dear Zindagi has already overtaken the lifetime and first week collections of many films. And now, Alia Bhatt’s latest release is all set to cross the first week collection of Kapoor & Sons too. As we told you Dear Zindagi has already collected Rs 44 crore and looking at the current trend, the movie will end the first week with a collection in between Rs 47-48 crore. Kapoor & Sons, on the other hand, had managed to collect only Rs 46.93 crore. So, Alia Bhatt’s Dear Zindagi will easily BEAT the first week collection of Kapoor & Sons. Both, Kapoor & Sons and Dear Zindagi touched hearts. However in the latter, Alia’s role was limited and Fawad Khan’s performance was tremendous. On the other hand, in the latter, Alia is the main protagonist and people feel that it was her best performance till date. But a small credit of the film’s collection has to be attributed to Shah Rukh Khan too.
The youth have connected with Dear Zindagi. While this was one of the factors that helped in the film’s success, the marketing and niche release was the primary factor. For those of you who don’t know, Dear Zindagi was released in just 1200 screens in India. This not only reduced the distribution costs, but also increased the occupancy levels. In fact, the film has not only performed well in the domestic market, but also the overseas market. With 600 screens, Alia and Shah Rukh Khan’s movie performed tremendously, earning Rs 27.45 crore in just 4 days. Currently, the worldwide collection of the movie stands at Rs 89.93 crore.
