Shah Rukh Khan beats Fawad Khan but fails to defeat Shahid Kapoor

Dear Zindagi is earning a lot of money but it still fell short of attaining a few feats. Shah Rukh Khan‘s film has managed to leave Alia Bhatt‘s Kapoor & Sons behind but couldn’t triumph over Udta Punjab yet. And truth be told, it failed to do so by a whisker. In 7 days, it earned 47 crore which means it has defeated Fawad Khan’s film but couldn’t beat Udta Punjab. Kapoor & Sons which released early this year had earned 46. 93 crore in its first week. So obviously with Dear Zindagi’s 47 cr, the film has definitely gone past it. Alia Bhatt had three releases this year and while it beat Kapoor & Sons, it is still lagging behind Udta Punjab’s first week collection which rests at 48. 50 cr. But by tomorrow, Dear Zindagi will manage to achieve this feat as well.

Now to be fair, Dear Zindagi released with 1200 screens and in that context, 47 crore is a huge number. Why we say so because, Udta Punjab opened in a whopping 2000 screens and earned 48. 50 cr in its first week. Let us show you the difference between the numbers that they have earned. If you check the everyday numbers of both the film, you will realise that despite earning a less total, Dear Zindagi has done a better job at the theatres than Udta Punjab. We will take Taran Adarsh’s tweets to illustrate the same. (Also read: Dear Zindagi’s Kaira or Udta Punjab’s Bauria – Which one was Alia Bhatt’s best performance till date?)

First up is Dear Zindagi

Now check Udta Punjab’s numbers…

You can see clearly that Udta Punjab have seen a steep downfall in the weekdays while DZ was steady at 3 crore and more. This proves how much people are love the film.

If you haven’t watch the film yet, please do because you are missing out on something really good.
