Shah Rukh Khan should NOT compete with Hrithik Roshan, instead fight Salman Khan at the box office suggests Kaabil director

We all know next year kicks off with two of the BIGGEST films – Hrithik Roshan‘s Kaabil and Shah Rukh Khan‘s Raees clashing at the box office. While the former had announced the release date earlier, the latter avoided clashing with Salman Khan’s Sultan and chose to clash with Kaabil. Though both the makers have been trying to find a way to avoid the clash, they haven’t been able to find a solution yet. So for now, the two films will clash on January 26, 2017! Reports stated that Kaabil producer Rakesh Roshan, actor Hrithik and director Sanjay Gupta were furious with the Raees team. However, in an interview to Mumbai Mirror, Sanjay reveals that he still feels the clash can be averted. The rumours of a conflict are also wiped out when he mentions that he liked the Raees teaser. But Gupta next statement will leave you stunned…

He says that SRK should be fighting it out with Salman at the box office, rather than Hrithik. As Sanjay mentions to the tabloid, “Hrithik is 10 years younger than Shah Rukh. So I don’t see this as a competition. Shah Rukh’s competition are Salman (Khan) and Aamir (Khan). Both the films won’t do more than a Rs 150-crore in a week because we have a Rs 300 crore box office window at best. When Salman releases a film solo, he gets Rs 300 crore. Shah Rukh should be looking at getting Rs 300 crore for his film and I’m sure he is looking at that possibility. I don’t understand why he would restrict the business of his own film. This clash is also going to be detrimental to them.” ALSO READ – 5 things Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees and Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil can learn from ADHM-Shivaay clash to avoid losses

So what does he have to say about the clash? Sanjay adds, “I wouldn’t say I am in denial but I think the clash could still be averted. In all fairness, Rakeshji did announce the release date first. SRK is a man of principle, a man of his word, he is a Pathan. I can’t fathom SRK stepping on someone’s toes. I don’t know if the films will come on the same day or not but I definitely think they shouldn’t. If someone else had announced a film before him, there’s no way in hell that Rakeshji would release his film on the same date. That is the respect we need to accord one another.” ALSO READ – Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees or Hrithik Roshan’s Kaabil: Which one will enter the Rs 100 crore club first?

Sanjay, however, clarifies that there is no bad blood between him and SRK. In fact, he even praises Raees, when he says, “Raees is the kind of film that I would make. I’m looking forward to it. I want to see SRK playing a badass gangster, mouthing ‘Baniye ka dimaag and miyabhai ki daring.’ I like his attitude. It is right up my alley. I was blown away with the first teaser.” ALSO READ – Save the date! Shah Rukh Khan’s Raees trailer will be out on December 7
