Bollywood celebrities including Amitabh Bachchan, Shahrukh Khan, Mira Nair and Shekhar Kapur expressed shock over the sudden demise of Hollywood actor Philip Seymour Hoffman

Philip Seymour Hoffman, 46, widely known for his Oscar-winning role in ‘Capote’ and memorable performances in films like ‘The Master’, Moneyball’ and ‘The Hunger Games: Catching Fire’, was found dead in his New York City apartment of an apparent drug overdose on February 2.

“WHAT! Philip Seymour Hoffman Found Dead. In 2005, Hoffman won the Oscar and the Golden Globe Award for ‘Capote’… Exceptional artist,” tweeted Amitabh Bachchan. (See Pics: Five great performances of Philip Seymour Hoffman)

Superstar Shahrukh Khan called Hoffman ‘great actor’. “It’s so difficult to accept that great actors are mortals. Thank you for the rides and the excitement Mr Philip Seymour. RIP,” Shahrukh posted.

Filmmaker Shekhar Kapur remembered meeting Hoffman very recently in New York. “Remember long wonderful meeting with him in NYC. A man so incredibly humble about his genius. He was only 46. What a loss.”

“Shocked to hear about the passing of @PhilipSeHoffman – he lived to make art and died for it. terrible when the great ones leave us,” tweeted director Mira Nair.

Actor-director Pooja Bhatt too expressed her grief. “Just heard the most tragic news-Philip Seymour Hoffman dead at 46. What a terrible,terrible loss.’My soul is in good shape’ Philip Seymour Hoffman. RIP,” said Bhatt.

Actor Arshad Warsi feels his death is a waste of good talent. “What a waste of good talent, such a fine actor…. Please say no to drugs… RIP Phillip Seymour Hoffman,” posted Arshad.

“RIP Phillip Seymour Hoffman- you’ll always shine wherever you are,” tweeted Aditi Rao Hydari “Philip Seymour Hoffman… wanted so much more of you.. always sad to say sudden & early goodbyes. Warmest hug to you wherever you’re shining now,” posted Shahana Goswami.

Uday Chopra condemned the used of drug by the actors. “Cannot believe Philip Seymour Hoffman passed away… Successful, talented, young… then dies of a drug OD what’s going on with Hollywood. RIP,” he wrote.
