The Hindi remake of Kamal Haasan’s hit Tamil film Vettaiyadu Vilayadu is up for grabs and the first two actors being considered for the role are Shahrukh Khan and Salman Khan
Vettaiyadu Vilayadu has already been remade in Telugu in the form of Raghavan with Kamal Haasan playing the lead again. The director Gautham Vasudev Menon now wishes to remake the film in Hindi but wants to cast A-list actors from the industry. Menon who is gearing up for his upcoming Hindi release, Ekk Deewana Tha which is again a remake of his film Vinnaithaandi Varuvaayaa believes that Shahrukh Khan would be ideal for the crime thriller in the role of a cop.We hear that Salman Khan is also being considered. Since Salman Khan has recently played cop in Wanted and Dabangg, we doubt that the actor would be keen on repeating himself. The director though maintains that the planning is still on and he hasn’t approached any actor for the role yet. Menon wants to first finish all his pending projects before he ventures into the remake of Vettaiyadu Vilayadu. He is currently busy making Neethaane Enn Ponvasantham with the Jeeva-Samantha pair which is also being planned in Telugu and Hindi. He also has Yohan: Adhyayam Ondru with Vijay.
While we are still talking about Menon, we wonder why he didn’t cast Kamal Haasan in the Hindi version as well, it’s not like the legendary actor has any trouble with the language nor is there any problem with crowd pulling either. Nonetheless, we are eagerly waiting to see who will finally take on the role – Salman or Shahrukh?
