The Jab Tak Hai Jaan actor agreed instantly to the idea of placing the name of his heroines before his in the credit titles of all his movies
Shahrukh Khan is a ladies’ man. The 47-year-old is known for his incredible charm, wit and chivalry. And now SRK is all set to make an announcement that will come as a revolution in the male-dominated film industry of ours. We all know that the credit reels of any Bollywood flick first features the name of the male actor followed by the leading lady. But SRK is all set to usher in a new trend. On International Women’s Day, SRK will be making an announcement that henceforth in all his movies the heroine’s name would appear ahead of him in the credit titles. But how did this fabulous idea of ‘ladies first’ come about?
It so happened that filmmaker R Balki, who is doing a project with SRK, suggested the idea of giving the credit line priority to women. Not only did Shahrukh readily agree to this concept, but he was so smitten with Balki’s idea that he has now decided to continue with this trend in all his future movies too. “Shahrukh didn’t hesitate for even a second. He immediately agreed to the idea of henceforth allowing his leading ladies the right to go first in the credit titles,” said R Balki in an interview to a daily. Even in Rohit Shetty’s forthcoming venture Chennai Express – starring SRK and Deepika Padukone - the latter’s name will feature before SRK and this trend will be continued in King Khan’s subsequent films too! We also hear that it doesn’t matter to the superstar if the leading lady of his film is senior or junior to him; she will always precede him on the silver screen.
We at BollywoodLife welcome Shahrukh’s decision. We don’t think that there could have been a better way to celebrate the significance of women in Hindi cinema. Now you tell us what do you think about this move, BollywoodLifers?
