Shooting of Joker 3D is over

The Akshay Kumar-Sonakshi Sinha-starrer, which was originally supposed to be India’s first 3D film, is finally done with its shooting schedules

Shirish Kunder’s ambitious 3D film Joker has been in the making for well over a year now. We finally heard that it is done with as far as shoots are concerned. Long ago, Shirish had proudly announced that Joker would be India’s first 3D film, but thanks to the various delays it will be the fourth, after Haunted 3D, RA.One and Don 2. In the last year, the popularity of 3D gimmicks in Bollywood films has been losing steam; the 3D version of Don 2, in particular, actually gave the audience a headache. The problem with the 3D versions of RA.One and Don 2 was that they weren’t actually shot using 3D cameras, but were just conversions. Haunted 3D, despite its lame story and bad acting by Mahakshay, became a huge hit because it was India’s first bona fide 3D movie. Now Kunder can’t milk the novelty aspect of his product, because it is a ‘been there done that’ idea. Joker is said to hit the big screen later this year and now that the shooting is finally over, the post-production has begun in full force to meet the August 31 deadline. While we aren’t sure how the film will turn out, we can safely say that the makers of Joker 3D will have to rely on the merit of its story and the novelty value of the coming together of its leading actors, Akshay Kumar and Sonakshi Sinha. There is also a possibility that Chitrangda Singh’s item song, Kaafirana, might be the saving grace. But we wait and watch to know more…
