The actor-producer was spotted with a black eye as a symbol of protest during the recently held Screen awards
Abhay Deol’s fight against music label T-Series might be sorted now, but when the actor took on this music giant at the cost of jeopardising his film’s release he turned a real life hero for Bollywood musicians.Deol’s black-eyed gesture has earned him support from Sonu Nigam, Sunidhi Chauhan, Kailash Kher, Vishal-Shekhar, Shankar-Ehsaan-Loy and others. The composers of One By Two Shankar Mahadevan, Ehsaan Noorani and Loy Mendonsa were not alone in their war against T-Series on the royalty issue, they were joined by their film’s co-producer and actor and this certainly touched this trio who took to their Twitter account to express gratitude and support. “Big respect! Thank you for your support and whatever happens whether the music releases or not ‘One By Two’ film needs all your support people,” the music trio wrote on their micro-blogging page.
Others singers who voiced their support for Abhay were:
Sonu Nigam: “It’s encouraging to see someone at least standing up for the music fraternity.”
Kailash Kher: “Appreciate Abhay Deol’s stand, he had a choice but he chose to save art and artistes from illegal contracts. Hope all actors producers join this.”
Sunidhi Chauhan: “Hats off to you Mr Abhay Deol! I’m speechless at your stand. Respect. Always.”
Vishal Dadlani: “Today, Abhay Deol has shown he is a man of principles and courage. He’s won the admiration and thanks of the entire film music fraternity.”
Alisha Chinai: “We need to revolutionise the work ethics of Indian music industry! No more illegal contracts. Boycott the music mafia.”
