Smriti Irani files defamation suit against Congress MP Sanjay Nirupam

The Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi… actor chooses to take legal action against the Congress leader for making derogatory remarks about her on national television

Though her character Tulsi was a demure, sanskari bahu on the iconic television show Kyunki Saas Bhi Kabhi Bahu Thi…, Smriti Irani in real life is made of tougher stuff. The BJP MP has taken on Congress leader Sanjay Nirupam for the comments he passed against her on a news show.

A few weeks ago, an irate Sanjay Nirupam, had made some harsh statements against Smriti. He said, in the live TV debate, “I don’t have to listen to you. It’s been four days since you have entered politics and you already think you are a great political analyst…till yesterday you were dancing on television and today you have become a politician.”

And though Smriti replied calmly to Sanjay’s remarks at the time, the BJP MP went on to file a defamation complaint against Nirupam in Delhi on Tuesday. Well, seems like entering politics has taught Smriti Irani a trick or two, and in light of such comments, it’s only right that she approaches the law. And as far as Sanjay Nirupam is concerned, didn’t he take part in Bigg Boss and was ousted from the show in a matter of weeks? Tch tch. With the public up in arms against the brutal Delhi gang-rape case and rising crimes against women in the country, Sanjay Nirupam may have a heck of a time defending himself!
