The Dabangg star, who is doing her first South movie, this one opposite Mahesh Babu, is set to join the likes of Priyanka Chopra and Kareena Kapoor as one of the highest paid actors in the business
Looks like perseverance has paid off for Sonakshi Sinha. Even after being part of more hits than her contemporaries like Anushka Sharma and Sonam Kapoor, Sonakshi has always been priced a couple of lakhs lower, be it for movies or brand endorsements. So if Anushka or Sonam was paid Rs 1.50 crore per film, Sona would take home around Rs 1.25 crore for her work.
But now, after signing on to do a Telugu movie for which she is reportedly being paid Rs 5 crore, Sonakshi clearly seems to have surged ahead of her competition. The movie she has chosen is titled Shivam and will be directed by Krish Jagarlamudi, with her co-star being Mahesh Babu.
And if reports are to be believed, it was Sona’s mast mast nain that helped her land the plum project. Director Krish confirmed this saying, “I wrote the script a while back and, to be honest, I had Sonakshi in my mind while I was sketching the female lead. The character Meenakshi will have big and beautiful eyes. And when I saw her in Dabangg, I was impressed. Her eyes are mighty expressive, and hold a lot of power.”
An ecstatic Sona is meanwhile comparing this to her Dabangg days, tweeting that “Lots of support from the south for my Telegu debut. Really looking forward to it… Feels like Dabangg deja vu — debut with superstar, script I couldn’t refuse, capable and intelligent director! Shoot starts later this year. It’s going to be a great journey (sic)”.
