The Hate Story director has roped in Payal Ghosh to reprise the glam doll of the yesteryear in his socio-political thriller

Parveen Babi’s personal life has always been the subject of scrutiny for Bollywood filmmakers. Mahesh Bhatt made Smita Patil essay the role of his former girlfriend in Arth (1982) and Kangna Ranaut too played a psycho obsessed lover in Woh Lamhe. To an extent, Madhur Bhandarkar’s Heroine too had drawn Babi’s real life instances though the director refused to admit that.

Latest we hear is that Vivek Agnihotri’s upcoming Freedom is also inspired by the Namak Halal actor’s life. The role will be played by South actor Payal Ghosh. After directing the adult film Hate Story, Vivek has wielded the megaphone for this socio-political saga and is headed to Rajasthan to shoot the second schedule of the movie.

As per sources, “Payal’s track bears a mysterious resemblance to Parveen’s relationship with Kabir Bedi. Parveen had a successful film career, but her personal life was tragic. Her insecurities and depression have been captured in the segment. Also, one of the segments will be based on Sanjay Dutt.” Vivek says, “I won’t name the real life people who have inspired me, as I don’t want publicity. Besides, the characters in my film have been based on not just Bollywood actors, but also certain people from other walks of life.”

Set in the 1970s to 2000 in New Delhi, Agnihotri’s most ambitious story will be showcased with various dramatic elements.
