Director Gauri Shinde and the veteran actor’s poignant tale of an ordinary homemaker’s journey inspires women across India

Entertaining audiences is the main job of movies. But it is that rare occasion when a film goes beyond entertainment and inspires viewers. It enlightens its audiences and transforms lives. And Sridevi’s comeback film English Vinglish directed by Gauri Shinde is proving to be just that.

In Bihar, women have really taken a liking to the film and are getting inspired to learn English, it was recently reported. Young Dalit women from Patna and surrounding small towns are working towards improving their English language skills after watching English Vinglish. They are even going to classes to improve their spoken and written English and comprehension, said a distributor.

Meanwhile, producer R Balki and star Sridevi are estatic. “To see our film make an impact makes me happier about its success,” said the actor, claiming that as the real achievement of the film.

Best film of 2012. And such films always inspire and motivate. What a historic comeback by Sridevi.
