Whistling Woods International has organised an event to celebrate cinema. Said to be India’s largest festival of its kind, it will take place on May 17 and 18. A little birdie tells us that apart from Subhash Ghai, Gulzar and Rekha will be inaugurating this festival which aims to celebrate the 100+ years journey of Indian Cinema. We hear that the first day of the fest will begin with a special tribute to six National award winner and versatile filmmaker Balu Mahendra with the screening of award-winning movie penned by him, Sadma. Other movies that will be showcased at the festival include Harishchandra Chi Factory and Bombay Talkies among others.
There’s also a special film appreciation section for children which will be moderated by Amole Gupte. Dia Mirza, Shabana Azmi, Javed Akhtar and several others will focus on women in cinema, socially responsible filmmaking, and anti-piracy. What more! There will be one-on-one discussions about the next wave of cinema with directors Anurag Basu and Rakeysh Omprakash Mehra. It’s going to be a star-studded affair with more than 5000 guests.
