The Kahaani director has decided what he will be making next and plans to rope in Big B and the ‘Ooh la la’ babe for it
After two flop films back-to-back – Home Delivery and Aladin – Sujoy Ghosh’s latest outing Kahaani has been declared a blockbuster. More than a filmmaker, Sujoy is a self-confessed film buff. He has gone on record to say that one of the reasons he is making films is that he wanted to work with Amitabh Bachchan. After the success of Kahaani, we hear that he will be collaborating with Big B and Vidya Balan for his next, based on a Bengali novel, Aranyer Din Ratri.
The book was made into a film by legendary filmmaker Satyajit Ray years ago. In a recent interview Sujoy said, “I have to live with the novel Aranyer Din Ratri for at least six months. I have to see where I can take it. After all, it’s been done before by Ray. And Gautam Ghose also made a sequel, Abar Aranye in 2003.” Ray’s version was about a group of four friends who were quite unlike each other and yet bonded together. They were from different layers of society, but the urge to escape from the daily grind of the city forced them to go out into the land of tribal folk.
If the novel is anything to go by, it seems that apart from Vidya and Sr B, Sujoy will be working with a handful of other equally talented actors in his next project. We wonder who they will be!
