The veteran actor turns 54 today
Not all South Indian actors manage to reach their fifties and still keep their star status intact. Malayalam actor Suresh Gopi, who turns 54 today (June 25), is part of that rare breed. It’s his acclaimed acting talents which keep him on the most-wanted list of top directors. Proof is the many awards that have come his way, including the National Film Award for best actor for his role in 1998 hit Kaliyattam.
In the ’90s, Suresh Gopi played angry cop in a series of action films, but then gave up the genre, because he felt they were encouraging a culture of violence. His most popular films though have been cop films. There was Bharathchandran IPS and then this year’s release, Commissioner, in which he reprised the role of the IPS officer. Now, Suresh Gopi has been roped in for Shankar’s next mega project I. So, there’s plenty for this seasoned actor to celebrate. Here’s wishing him a very happy birthday!
