After essaying a sportsman in the much acclaimed Kai Po Che! and a boy next door in the upcoming Shuddh Desi Romance, the actor dons an entirely new avatar
Sushant Singh Rajput has just got a makeover. The actor has finally shed his boy-next-door image on the big screen and is wearing the look of an intense detective for his upcoming film Detective Byomkesh Bakshi (DBB). Director Dibakar Banerjee will direct as well as co-produce the movie along with Yash Raj Films.
DBB is based on one of the 33 crime thrillers penned by famed Bengali writer Sharadindu Bandyopadhyay between 1932 and 1970, which had Byomkesh Bakshi as the protagonist. The movie will be set in Kolkata during the World War II years in 1942.
“Sushant is the earlier Byomkesh (of the 1930s)…the Byomkesh that Bandyopadhayay wrote when he was young and adventurous. That is the new aspect that you will get,” says Dibakar. At the moment, the director is scouting for locations in the city, since the film is slated to go on floors in December this year.
