The show claims to be the first to shoot at Rann of Kutch in Gujarat
The Taarak Mehta Ka Ooltah Chashmah team has fun not only onscreen but off screen too. We hear they went to Kutch to shoot a special series of episodes to be aired around Republic Day. They shot in a train’s compartment specially arranged by the Gujarat Tourism department, and also secured permission to shoot in the 14th century Ashapura Mata temple. Disha Wakani recalled, “Nobody has even been allowed to take a picture inside the temple’s premises. We were very lucky to get special permission and shoot part of the show inside the temple.” The team also went for hot air balloon rides, camel rides, camped in tents and danced around a campfire.
The experience that was most memorable to all the cast and crew was hoisting the national flag with the locals and the soldiers of the Border Security Force surrounded by white sand at the Rann of Kutch. Said producer Asit Kumar Modi, “It was extremely cold there but the entire team was at location at 5am. The BSF jawans were happy because most of them watch our serial and they had never imagined they will get to hoist the flag with their favorite artistes. The entire experience was unique.” Added Dilip Joshi, “Because of the location we could bring in a unique look to the show. Asitji had found this location while doing the recce for another show and has always wanted to use it. The entire team got the chance to explore the beauty of this remote area. Till date no serial has been shot there.” It will be interesting to see how the location plays out on screen, don’t you think?
