The crème de la crème of Tellyland graced the red carpet for the Golden Petal Awards that were held during the weekend
The in-house Colors’ awards saw the actors in their best and worst on the starry night.
Joining TV actors were Bollywood divas Madhuri Dixit-Nene, Huma Qureshi, Preity Zinta and Karan Johar. Our cameraman also caught the drama queens like Drashti Dhami, Seema Mishra, Tina Dutta, Rashmi Desai and their dishy looking halves – Vivian DSena, Gaurav Chopra, Punit Pathak, Siddharth Shukla of telly world.
We screened them with a lot of scrutiny and have come to the conclusion that a lot of them need to change their wardrobe with immediate effect. It’s not a nice thing to wear bling and force attention at the red carpet, no?
Anyway we give you a list on who looked bad and who managed to pass our critical views. Read on…
Anil Kapoor wore his designer embroidered suit to represent his new crime series 24. Drashti Dhami played it safe with the pink border glitter saree. Even though it looked like the cheaper version of Kareena Kapoor Khan’s saree, the actor carried it well. Gaurav Chopra stuck to the black bow-tie suit, which complimented his height. Although we think the actor has put on some weight. Huma Qureshi was at the awards to promote Dedh Ishqiya; the actor looked simple and elegant.
Rohit Khurrana looked every bit dishy, but even better looking was the girl he walked around with as his arm candy. Madhubala’s Seema Mishra like Drashti kept it simple but glittery in her orange saree teamed with a golden sequined blouse. Sumona Chakravarti looked every bit classy in her denims, suit, black top and the golden jewellery. Tisca Chopra was the best in the lot in her purple silk saree and Suhani Pittie jewellery. Choreographer Punit Pathak looked super smart in his brown Indian jacket. We like!
Aashka Goradia looks like she just walked out from the sets of Amitabh Bachchan’s Ajooba. The golden pants and cream jacket with a high shoulder killed it. Great for a costume party not for the red carpet girl. Ajay Singh Chaudhary seemed to have lost his way while going for a wedding. It’s an award function and not a Punjabi wedding dude. Aarti Chhabria’s look was great up to her waist, but then after that, it was complete hotchpotch. Guess the actor was trying to combine two or three designs in one.
Avika Gor, we believe was dressed to perform, but in that, really? Shudder! Dimple Jhangiani, we believe was supposed to join Ajay for the wedding. She looked like a chandelier herself. Kirron Kher normally has an elegant dressing sense, but we wonder what happened to her style quotient. There was just a little too much happening with Lauren Gottileb’s dress. The otherwise well dressed dancer turned up in this hideous orange coloured gown. In addition to that, she wore traditional bangles to give it that Indian touch. Yikes!
The biggest disaster came from Bollywood’s dhak dhak girl, Madhuri Dixit. The actor was wearing a blue embroidered lehenga with jewellery by Gehna. We truly expected better. Mrunal Jain made an appearance with his newly married wife. Unfortunately he forgot to do up his make up before the grand event. Rashmi Desai looked like she has been bingeing on lots of chocolate to overcome her depression of a failed marriage ‘coz the actor has put a little too much weight for our liking. Roop Durgapal tried something different with her pink attire, but the shoes are all so wrong. Anil Kapoor’s daughter in 24, newbie Sapna Pabbi’s killed it with her saree gown. Tch… tch…
Looks like Shefali Sharma forgot to check the mirror before leaving home. Usually the actor wears minimum makeup for her show, guess she was making up for it. Shweta Tiwari who is blessed with a gorgeous figure needs to give rest to her Bhojpuri avatars, really. While Siddharth Shukla seemed okay, his shoes really put us off. Sreejita De and Tina Dutta were colour coordinated for the red carpet. The blue is so not their colors, never mind the pattern of their attire. Vivian DSena usually known to dress with style really made us sit up and take notice, for all the wrong reasons. High time our TV stars change their wardrobe or get better stylists.
