Women’s Day is all about celebrating the achievements and success of women. Here we turn the spotlight on the top-ranked female actors of South Indian cinema

Indian cinema has come a long way and the role of women has evolved from being mere eye candy to bagging meaty roles and taking on women-centric subjects. One look at the South Indian film industry – Tamil, Telugu, Malayalam and Kannada – and you will know that it’s packed with female stars. The women power has become more evident in the movies of late and actors like Trisha, Nayanthara, Samantha, Anushka Shetty, Amala Paul, Taapsee Pannu to name a few have taken it to a different level altogether.

These girls have matched steps with the leading men and been at par in every aspect – be it their arresting screen presence, commanding star power, doing hardcore action sequences or trying a hand at frothy comedy.

On this International Women’s Day take a look at these stars and tell us who you think is the power girl of the South?
