Uday was going to remake the blockbuster film Bunty Aur Babli but not anymore, we hear
It’s old goss that Abhishek Bachchan and Rani Mukerji starrer Bunty Aur Babli was going to be remade in English by none other than Uday Chopra. To those who don’t know, the Hindi version was producer by his brother Aditya Chopra. Reportedly, Michael Cera and Taylor Swift were to play Bunty and Babli in the English remake. Now we hear that due to budget issues, Uday Chopra has shelved the broject.
Uday told a popular daily, “I thought it would be a cool film to make in the US, but there, the idea of making a rom-com is a very expensive proposition. Such films are the studios’ domains. If I tried to make it, I wouldn’t be able to sell it unless it was in a quirky space – like Juno (2007) for example.” He admits that making an ‘out-and-out’ romantic comedy is something he can’t presently do as it’s out of his budget. He added, “I can co-produce it with a studio, but no one knows me in the US. They will wonder ‘Who is this upstart from India who is coming and giving me a script? Why would I make it?’”
We hear that Uday Chopra has the English script of Bunty Aur Babli ready and he says that he will make it when he has more money and his company becomes bigger. Well, we wish this Chopra boy good luck with his upcoming ventures… And hope that his dream comes true, soon!
