Will Modi sarkar give their filmi friends a reason to celebrate in Budget 2014?
We all know how the 2014 Lok Sabha Elections panned out. Ain’t we? Riding on colossal support from people of India, Narendra Modi waltz his way to Prime Minister’s chair. But one can’t deny the role of film stars in making Modi the flavour of the season. Now as we all await for Union Budget 2014, we wonder if these film stars will actually benefit with Namo’s friendship in terms of exemption in taxes on entertainment sector.
Bollywoodlife brings you Namo’s five filmi buddies who would be grateful if Modi sarkar slashes the tax rate on films:
Every film buff knows how Salman Khan celebrated Makar Sankranti at Modi ji’s household this year. Sallu miyaan took the risk of angering his Muslim fans with his association with NaMo, for which we paid a price with Jai Ho‘s average run at box office. As bhai is gearing up for his big release Kick , one feels the bad boy of Bollywood will be more than grateful if taxes imposed on entertainment sector be slashed. So will Modi retain Bhai’s loyalty with waiver in tax or will Sallu be ‘Kick’ed by his friend NaMo?
We all know how Thalaiva and Modi ji bonded over cup of tea at Rajini’s residence. If Modi sarkar slashes tax rate, no one more than Rajinikanth would have wanted the budget to be passed before his film Kochadaiiyaan‘s release. We hear Kochadaiiyaan had to pay up hefty amount as tax. But past is past and Rajini sir will be hoping that the budget will bring good news to film industries. After all his big budget Lingaa is also gearing up for December release.
Bollywood’s social activist Aamir Khan recently met with Modi at Prime Minister’s Office and discussed about the resolution of issues which his TV show Satyamev Jayate raised. Bollywood would be hoping Aamir did make our Prime Minister understand about the role of films and TV on social awakening of India’s youth. The Dhoom 3 star might be keeping his fingers crossed and hoping his meeting with PM benefits the industry. After all his P.K. is also set to hit screens in December 2014.
If any film star who actively campaigned for Narendra Modi, it has to Telugu superstar Pawan Kalyan. His incessant campaigning for Modi cast a magical spell on common man as BJP-TDP alliance won comfortably in elections 2014. Now as the power star is gearing to heqd back to films and starts shooting for Gopala Gopala, we are sure his ears would be tuned in to get any news on his beloved Modi ji’s take on service tax on films.
Before Aamir showed up at NaMo’s office, it was Illaya Thalapathy Vijay who privately met with our PM and discussed precisely about service tax applied on entertainment sectors. It is said that Thuppakki star had advocated for tax exemption as it is taking heavy toll on India’s film machinery. Vijay also requested his fans to support Modi during Lok Sabha elections. We wonder if Tamil superstar Vijay will hear good news from Delhi ahead of his film Kaththi‘s release.
