David Dhawan’s directorial venture starring his laadla beta hit the theatres on Friday. While this romantic comedy managed to impress the critics, it failed to pull in crowds to the cinema halls
Varun Dhawan, Ileana D’Cruz and Nargis Fakhri starrer Main Tera Hero is a typical masala entertainer directed by king of comedy David Dhawan. This is the first time that Varun has teamed up with his filmmaker father. And though they left no stone unturned to promote their film, Main Tera Hero had an average opening at the ticket windows on its first day. Considering that Sunny Leone’s Ragini MMS 2 grossed Rs 8. 43 crore nett on its first day, Jr Dhawan’s film surely kicked off on a slow note, hai na? Film critic and trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted, “Main Tera Hero Fri – 6.60 cr nett. India biz.” The film’s business could pick up coz of positive worth-of-mouth but wethinks the ongoing T20 World Cup will play a spoilsport as team India has reached the finals.
According to Boxofficeindia, ‘Main Tera Hero had an average opening with mass circuits opening better be it multiplex properties or single screen ones. The average occupancy was around 30% plus which is lower if compared with Ragini MMS 2 which had an average occupancy of around 40-45% The film will be affected by the big cricket match in the evening so a better opening would have helped especially as the film is for the youth which comes to the theatres in the morning but still the film has chances if the reports are on the plus side.”
