Veteran actor Farooq Sheikh passes away!

Veteran Bollywood actor died in Dubai late Friday

Farooq Sheikh passed away after a sudden cardiac arrest in Dubai yesterday. Sheikh, 65, was reported to be in a fit condition and was apparently in Dubai for a concert when he suffered the heart attack. His co-star and friend Deepti Naval confirmed this news, ”I don’t have details yet, and I have not been able to speak to any of his family members, but a friend confirmed it to me. I also spoke to Shabana Azmi who was also aware of the sad, shocking and unbelievable news.” She said that his body will be brought to Mumbai for the last rites after completing the relevant formalities in Dubai. Naval has been in touch with Sheikh and had interacted with him two months ago at the Sharjah book fair.

Sheikh was best known for his roles in Satyajit Ray’s Shatranj Ke Khiladi, Sai Paranjpe’s Chashme Baddoor and Sagar Sarhadi’s Bazaar. He started his career in 1973 with M S Sathyu’s acclaimed film on India’s partition, Garm Hawa. He won the 2010 National Film Award for Best Supporting Actor for Sanjay Puran Singh Chauhan’s Lahore. The actor was last seen in Club 60, released earlier this month.Subscribe to me on YouTube
