‘Vicky Donor’ writer receives a Filmfare trophy from Salim Khan!

No, Salman Khan’s famous scriptwriter father isn’t in the mood to get rid of his prized possessions. That is just his way of appreciating new talent

Apart from the slowly and steadily growing box-office collections of Vicky Donor, the makers of the latest comedy have accomplished another notable achievement. But this one is exclusively for debutant writer Juhi Chaturvedi. Salim Khan, the celebrated scriptwriter of the 70s, was extremely impressed with the well-written script of Vicky Donor. We couldn’t disagree with Salman Khan’s scriptwriter dad. It’s not easy to weave an engaging comic plot with realistic characters around a serious subject. Just look at the recent releases, most of them have either been capers full of silly gags like Housefull 2 and Desi Boyz or adaptations of old hits like Agneepath and Players (remake of The Italian Job).

Coming back to Vicky Donor, senior Khan after watching the film decided to present his Filmfare trophy to Juhi, the writer, and Shoojit Sircar, the director. In the past, the veteran scriptwriter gave away a Filmfare trophy to the writer-director team – Vikas Bhalla and Nitesh Bhardwaj – of Chillar Party. Incidentally, after the children’s flick was ready to roll, Salman joined in as a co-producer and extensively promoted it.

Looks like the makers of Vicky Donor don’t have to wait for the award season, that happens in the start of every year, to make their presence felt in B-town. Everyone from the first-time producer John Abraham to debutant writer Juhi Chaturvedi is getting their share of limelight for putting together this unexpected winner.
