Wish the director-producer-
screenwriter, Vidhu Vinod Chopra many many happy returns of the day
Born on September 5,1952, Vidhu Vinod Chopra started his career in Bollywood aiming to be a great storyteller some day. Although Khamosh was the first film that got him noticed as a director, it didn’t exactly win rave reviews from the audience. But since the movie made him the critics’ blue-eyed boy, he gathered all his courage and went ahead and made Parinda with Jackie Shroff and Anil Kapoor. In fact, he recently said in one of his interviews that he really had a tough time convincing Jackie to do the film, ‘coz there was a time when Mr Shroff wasn’t very confident about his thespian skills. So Chopra asked Jaggu dada to write on a piece of paper that he’s a good actor – not once or twice, but a hundred times over! Parinda was labeled a blockbuster and VVC established his credibility as a reliable director who was capable of making out-and-out commercial movies.
Passionate about films and eager to showcase great concepts onscreen, Chopra is busy producing Munnabhai Ki Aatma Katha and Taalismaan. We wish the director best of luck for the future.
