The Ferrari Ki Sawari producer has started work on his next, Broken Horses
The Anil Kapoor-Jackie Shroff-Madhuri Dixit starrer Parinda marked the debut of director Vidhu Vinod Chopra in Bollywood, followed up over the years with wonderful films like 1942 A Love Story. His last project as a director was the Amitabh Bachchan-Saif Ali Khan-Vidya Balan starrer Eklavya, made five years ago, after which he has focussed on his role as a producer. Though Eklavya didn’t do well at the BO, it was appreciated by film buffs. At the time Chopra announced his next directorial assignment: Broken Horses, a Hollywood collaboration, but that one has not been spoken of for a while, since he is occupied with his home productions.
His latest in a long and fairly successful line of movies is a new film starring Aamir Khan and Anushka Sharma, a project called Peekay, to be directed by Rajkumar Hirani; this one has been making news over the past few months. So we were a little surprised when we heard that VVC has now started work on Broken Horses. Written by Chopra and his usual collaborator Abhijat Joshi, script consultant Jason Richman is also working on the film. The shooting of Broken Horses is in progress in Death Valley in East California, and buzz is that Hollywood actor Vincent D’Onofrio has joined the star cast.
It seems that after making 3 Idiots, the highest grossing film in Indian cinema, Chopra and his gang are all set to take over Hollywood.
